Synopsis
Childhood is a history project made with students at St luke's CE Primary School. The film explores the development of children's rights in British history. In our docu-drama, children investigate what 'rights' are, as well as how and why these have evolved over time. Starting in 1770, we explore the Industrial Revolution, Victorian Education and 20th century attitudes before finishing in the present day and looking at what the future may hold.

Director Statement
Childhood is a school and filmmaking project created by the teachers and students of St Luke's CE Primary School during the 2025–26 academic year. Over 40 children from Years 1–6 took part in developing and making the film.
The children were involved in many different aspects of the project. They helped develop stories and scenes, wrote the script, contributed ideas and direction notes, and created sets and props. They were actively involved in the filmmaking process while also learning about it along the way.
